Bruce Winterhalder received his Ph.D. in 1977 from Cornell University. Currently a Professor of Anthropology at the University of California at Davis, he has edited numerous volumes on Behavioral Ecology and Optimal Foraging Theory. Winterhalder has utilized the theories of behavioral ecology to study both hunter-gatherers in sub-arctic Canada, as well as agriculturalists and pastoralists in the central Andes.
